Maintenance Guide

Maximize Performance: TERRA Maintenance Guide

To ensure the safety, reliability, and long service life of your TERRA truck mounted crane, regular maintenance is essential. Follow our structured guide to keep your equipment in peak condition.

1. Daily Pre-Operation Checklist

Before starting any lifting task, a quick visual inspection can prevent major issues:

  • Hydraulic Leaks: Check all hoses, fittings, and cylinders for oil traces.
  • Structural Integrity: Inspect the boom, outriggers, and sub-frame for cracks or deformation.
  • Safety Devices: Ensure the emergency stop, load moment indicator (LMI), and limit switches are functional.
  • Fluid Levels: Verify hydraulic oil and gearbox oil levels.

2. Lubrication Schedule

Friction is the enemy of heavy machinery. Proper lubrication is mandatory:

  • Rotation Bearing (Slewing Ring): Grease every 50 working hours using high-pressure lithium grease.
  • Boom Slide Pads: Apply a thin layer of grease to the telescoping sections weekly to ensure smooth extension.
  • Pivot Pins: Ensure all joints and pins are lubricated to prevent premature wear.

3. Hydraulic System Care

The “heart” of your crane requires clean oil to survive:

  • First Oil Change: Replace hydraulic oil and filters after the first 100 working hours (break-in period).
  • Regular Change: Replace hydraulic oil every 1,000 to 1,500 hours or at least once a year.
  • Filter Maintenance: Check the return oil filter indicator regularly; replace the element if it shows restriction.

4. Critical Fastener Inspection

Truck mounted cranes are subject to intense vibration:

  • Mounting Bolts: Regularly check the torque on the bolts securing the crane to the truck chassis.
  • Slewing Bolts: High-tensile bolts on the rotation gear must be inspected for tightness every 3 months.

5. Wire Rope & Hook Maintenance (For Stiff Boom Cranes)

  • Inspection: Look for kinks, broken wires, or corrosion in the steel wire rope.
  • Lubrication: Use specialized wire rope lubricant to reduce internal friction.
  • Hook Safety: Ensure the safety latch is intact and the hook rotates freely.
